Beginner Printmaking

Learn the ancient art of woodcutting through linocut methods or explore an approach to printmaking called monotype.  Students will have an opportunity to create contemporary adaptations by combining various printmaking techniques to make framable art, gift cards or advertising.  Experimentation is welcome!  Classes are limited to 6 students.

Adult Basic Drawing

Artist Richard Toft. If you have the manual dexterity to write your name, Richard Toft has the ability to teach you not only how to draw but how to draw well. With over thirty years experience as a professional artist and teacher, Richard has numerous examples of children, adults of all ages and seniors who have removed the blocks that have prevented them from drawing. Since the foundation for exploring other areas in the visual arts such as painting, sculpting and design work is based so soundly on drawing, new doors are certain to open for you as your skill is developed. A six week commitment to this course will set the stage for a new adventure in learning how to overcome the frustration that has prevented you from drawing.

 

Egg Tempera. For Adults

Egg tempera dates back to the beginning of art history. It flourished in the Renaissance and it still has an incredible presence in the hands of contemporary masters such as Andrew Wyeth. Painting in egg tempera uses dry colored pigments mixed with the yolk of an egg. The linear properties of the medium allow the artist to literally draw with fine sable brushes creating exacting detail, varied textures and a distinctive luminosity. As gouache is opague and watercolor is transparent, egg tempera is translucent. Employing numerous glazes of color, the medium is capable of producing jewel like results that are very different from other media. This six week course will explore the distinct advantages of using egg tempera as a unique means of artistic expression.

"Wonders of Watercolor”  with Diana Davis’s

The class focuses on individual attention and Diane shares her passion of watercolor and her love of art.  All levels of students are accepted. 

“Painting up a Storm” with Clelia Sheppard

The 6 week painting class focuses on basic color technique and composition.

Private art classes are also available for homeschooled children.
