Arts Enter Dance for Camera Workshop 2011 Promo from Renata Sheppard on Vimeo.

Arts Enter's Dance for the Camera workshop is designed to be interdisciplinary, collaborative, and suitable for all levels. Dance for the Camera is a unique time-based art form that crosses disciplinary boundaries; it is movement in time and space envisioned through the frame, a dynamic composition that is equally relevant to dance, visual arts, film, theatre, architecture, and design. Our goal is to offer a rich environment for experimentation without limitations based on discipline or technical knowledge.
The beginner will find the support he or she needs to venture into the world of screen dance while the advanced creator will enjoy a fully supported intensive process with space, dancers, and the potential collaborators needed to spark inspiration in sound, camera, movement, and direction.

Each day begins with a specially designed movement session followed by a technical session focused on lighting, sound, framing, camera basics, shooting techniques, and more.During these sessions we will also discuss Laban Movement Analysis and Sound Theory, building frameworks through which we can analyze and create screen dance. The afternoons involve hands-on exercises followed by film screenings and discussion. The second week is dedicated to realizing a final project and will include dedicated time for each participant to rehearse, shoot, and edit their film.
Our international faculty and the friendly staff at Arts Enter Cape Charles look forward to welcoming you for the first Dance for the Camera workshop. Tuition assistance is available.
