CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Creative Movement
for Beginners (ages 4-6)
To foster the love of dance in the younger children, Lucy Watkins is teaching Creative Movement for 4-6 yr. olds. Creative Movement develops coordination and self-expression through simple dance movement and music. This class uses a wide variety of music, props, and balancing techniques. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

Dance for Musical Theatre
for ages 7-16
Dance for Musical Theatre with veteran instructor Amy Watkins, focuses on stage direction, movement, presentation and finesse make the stage come alive! The class stretches students’ skills while helping them to move in the studio and stage space. It is a great way to gain comfort on the stage and to increase dance and theatre language directed movement skills. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120
Ballet I
for ages 7-10
Ballet I with Lucy Watkins introduces students to the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. In each class, students participate in conditioning, movement exercises and dance phrases designed to increase knowledge and improve execution of basic ballet steps. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

for ages 10-15
Ballet II with Lucy Watkins expands on the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. In each class, students participate in conditioning, movement exercises and dance phrases designed to increase knowledge and improve execution of basic ballet steps. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

Modern I
for ages 7-10
Explore movement and shapes, energy and expression through modern dance. A mix of combinations and improvisation based on foundations of modern dance techniques make up a class that will stretch your muscles and creativity. Classes begin January 22. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

for ages 10-15
Continue to explore movement and shapes, energy and expression through modern dance. A mix of combinations and improvisation based on foundations of modern dance techniques make up a class that will

Hip Hop I
Ages 7-10
Trained dancer Lucy Watkins will be teaching Hip Hop to students between the ages of 7-10 . Hip Hop is the pinnacle of self-expression. Classes include warm up, moving across the floor, style explorations (popping, locking, waving, gliding, etc.), and freestyle circles. These classes are for dancers who like self-expression and physical exercise. Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

ages 10-15

Stretch & Move for Adults
Mara’s popular class is designed to be a drop-in class and is held year-round. Stretching makes it possible for the body to move more freely, more smoothly, more naturally at any age. In this class the movements are done in sitting, lying, standing and in traveling positions. These movements are designed to improve breathing, to enhance circulation, increase joint mobility, flexibility, and muscular strength. $120/8 sessions. On-going

Tap for Children
Tap with Lisa Brasch will work with new learners to teach tap basics while enjoying music and movement while stimulating the mind with rhythmic sounds. Tapping improves physical function and well-being.
Classes are April 8 - May 21. Cost: $120

Adult tap class with Lisa Brasch makes for great exercise. Tap helps tone the body while enjoying music and movement while stimulating the mind with rhythmic sounds. Tapping improves physical function and
well-being. $120/8 sessions. Ongoing.

Ballet/Tap/Floor for Adults
Movement for the mind, body and spirit that exercises the heart, lungs, muscles, and joints from head to pointed toes. Balance is easy when the dancer is strong. $120/8 classes. Drop in $15

Piano & Voice Lessons
Megan Cartwright has taught private piano and voice at Arts Enter for several years and has also directed many musicals on the Palace Theatre Stage. She is a choral director, performer, and music teacher and most recently starred in Mary Poppins. Megan is a graduate of James Madison University and holds a Masters of Music Education from Boston University. She taught for many years in public schools and now teaches music for Arts Enter, Eastern Shore's Own Arts Center and Broadwater Academy. ½ hour lessons $30 Voice lessons $35/ ½ hour.

Guitar Lessons
Jack Holladay will join the Arts Enter team with guitar and general music lessons. Jack has four years of formal training at Berklee College of Music. He is from the Eastern Shore and has been playing music for 18 years, studying earnestly for 9. Classes begin with basic mechanics of the instrument as well as fundamentals such as tuning, playing in time, chords, etc. After establishing a chosen style, the student will learn songs. Basic ear training and theory will be integral to lessons. 1 hour $50.

Shore Singers Community Choir
Mrs. Cartwright is also the director of the Shore Singers, a chorus for adults. All are welcome. Performances in the Historic Palace Theatre scheduled. Ongoing.
