Lemon Tree Gallery

Since 2016, Lemon Tree Gallery has served as a vibrant venue for the arts in Cape Charles, next door to the Historic Palace Theatre.

Lemon Tree Gallery showcases over 100 local, regional, and international artists anchored by three resident artists: Clelia Cardano Sheppard, Thelma Peterson, and David Turner. The Gallery curates two shows per year, each featuring collective and solo exhibitions. Gallery founder and curator Clelia Cardano Sheppard gathers inspiration from her native Italy. Gallery manager Mary Ann Roehm brings an elegant touch.

Fridays at Lemon Tree offers free live music nearly every Friday night, bringing the community together around the arts. This model follows the creative place-making strategy presented by the National Endowment for the Arts, aligning with the Main Street program in Cape Charles. The door between the Lemon Tree Gallery and the Historic Palace Theatre has been reopened to further enable exchanges with all disciplines under one roof. Lemon Tree serves as the box office for the Historic Palace Theatre.

Our philosophy at Lemon Tree is that art helps you savor life. Whether you're feeling that Chesapeake Bay breeze as you sip a glass of wine on our patio, taking an art class, enjoying music on our stage, participating in a Conversation Cafe, or falling in love with a painting that makes your heart race, time spent at Lemon Tree is way to both escape from the world and get closer to what makes it beautiful.
