Santana, led by legendary Mexican-American guitarist and songwriter Carlos Santana, is one of the best-selling groups of all time, with over 47 million certified albums sold in the U.S. and an estimated 100 million sold worldwide.
In 1998, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2000 the band won six Grammy Awards in one night, a record tied with Michael Jackson, along with three Latin Grammy Awards.
During the five decades of his career, Carlos Santana has been a true multicultural artist. He helped shape the concept of “world music” through his blending of styles and genres from a wide range of cultural influences. His instantly identifiable fusion of Latin, salsa, blues, rock, and Afro-Cuban music has continued to evolve with elements of jazz, fusion, and world beat.
